The United States has revoked the visa of Brazil’s ambassador to Washington, a State Department official said on Tuesday, in the latest diplomatic row between the two countries.
Washington’s decision stems from Brasilia’s delay in approving a new US ambassador, according to the US official, who said “We think the government of Brazil owes us a prompt and positive answer to our request.”
The latest spat comes after Brazil denied visas for two US officials who sought to meet with election authorities last month, a Brazilian diplomatic source said, citing the “risk of political exploitation.”
