Ex-Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has reportedly reached a total verbal agreement with Manchester City to become the club’s next manager, in what would mark a significant step toward a potential new era at the Etihad Stadium.
According to the reports, Maresca has been identified as a leading candidate to succeed Pep Guardiola, with discussions said to have progressed to the point where an initial three-year contract is being prepared. However, no official confirmation has been issued by Manchester City or the manager himself.
Maresca, who has gained attention in coaching circles for his tactical approach and rapid rise in management, is believed to be highly regarded within City’s football structure.
His potential appointment is being framed by some reports as a continuation of the club’s possession based philosophy, rather than a major tactical shift.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on X on Tuesday, “Enzo Maresca has a total verbal agreement with Manchester City. Here we go! The Italian manager has always been considered the ideal candidate to replace Pep Guardiola. Deal in place and Maresca will sign an initial three-year deal at #MCFC. New era, soon.”
