IMMIGRATION RALLIES JOINT TASK FORCE AGAINST TERROR THREATS

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, has disclosed that the agency is intensifying efforts to fortify Nigeria’s borders, particularly maritime frontiers, to combat terrorism, piracy, and other transnational crimes.
Nandap made this known on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of a Regional Workshop on Maritime Border Security, organised by the NIS in Abuja.
She noted that the strategic gathering reflects the collective commitment of West and Central African nations to jointly tackle a range of maritime threats, including piracy, terrorism, illicit arms flow, human trafficking, stowaways, and migrant smuggling.
Nandap emphasised that the NIS plays a crucial role in preventing foreign terrorist fighters and criminal elements from breaching Nigeria’s borders, highlighting the importance of robust passport control and travel document verification as core to counter-terrorism efforts.
