The Supreme Court has dismissed a suit seeking to remove President Bola Tinubu from office. The plaintiff, Chief Ambrose Owuru, was fined N5 million for filing a frivolous case.
Owuru, who was the 2019 presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party, alleged that Tinubu’s ties to the CIA and a past drug-related case made him unfit for office. The court rejected his claims and warned the Registry against accepting such frivolous suits in the future.
Owuru, who also contested the legitimacy of ex-President Buhari’s tenure, was criticized for re-filing the suit. The court threatened to refer him to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee and imposed the fine as a result of his conduct.
