Famous rapper Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, popularly known as Nicki Minaj, has confirmed that she has an Igbo name.
The music star confirmed that her first name, Onika, is the Trinidadian derivation of the Igbo name Onyekachi. Minaj was reacting to a post by a fan hailing her recent outing at the United Nations, where she spoke against jihadist violence against Christians in Nigeria. The fan claimed that Minaj’s first name, Onika, which means “Who is greater than God,” shows that she was destined for great things, including speaking against injustice
