INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, told newly sworn‑in Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Adeniran Tella that the commission will not tolerate any breach of electoral procedures or ethical standards.
Describing the ceremony as a solemn call to duty, Amupitan tasked Tella with upholding the commission’s core values of transparency, professionalism and strict adherence to the Electoral Act, emphasizing that free, fair and credible elections are the foundation of Nigeria’s democracy.
Amupitan warned that any misconduct, by omission or commission, will be met with zero tolerance and reiterated the commission’s resolve to combat all forms of rigging, including vote‑buying. He announced that Tella has been posted to Oyo State and is to assume duties immediately.
In his response, Tella thanked the commission for the orderly swearing‑in, pledged to uphold professionalism, fairness and transparency, and said the commission’s direction aligns with global best practices in election administration.
