EPL: Carrick dismisses Scholes’ criticism ahead of Villa clash

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has brushed off criticism from former teammate Paul Scholes ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

United, currently third in the league, are preparing to host Villa after suffering a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United earlier this month. With Villa just behind on goal difference, the upcoming match is pivotal in the battle for Champions League qualification next season.

Scholes took to Instagram to make a sarcastic remark about Carrick, saying:

“Michael has definitely got something special about him… cos Utd have been crap last four games.”

The former England international later clarified that no offence was intended and reached out to Carrick personally.
