Nigeria’s U-17 women’s coach, Bankole Olowookere, has expressed strong confidence that the Flamingos can hand Italy their first defeat of the tournament when both sides meet in the round of 16 at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco on Tuesday.
The Italians, who topped Group A ahead of Brazil, Morocco, and Costa Rica, remain unbeaten, while Nigeria scraped through to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams after a 4–0 win over Samoa in their final group game.
Despite Italy’s fine form, Olowookere believes the Flamingos are prepared to cause an upset in their first meeting and continue their journey in Morocco.
