Teachers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have called off their strike, which lasted more than three months.
They will resume classes on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
The FCT branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) announced the development in a communiqué released following an emergency meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
The union explained that the decision came after teachers received payments for the new minimum wage along with five months’ arrears on Tuesday, July 8.
The strike, which started in March, had disrupted academic activities in primary schools across the FCT. The NUT said it decided to suspend the strike following the intervention of the FCT Minister, who engaged key stakeholders to address the issue.
